Oregon State sophomore guard Jordan Pope headed to transfer portal, a stunning loss for Beaver men’s basketball

Oregon State men’s basketball sustained a significant blow Tuesday as sophomore guard Jordan Pope announced that he’s headed to the transfer portal.

Pope, Oregon State’s leading scorer this past season, is not yet in the portal, a source told The Oregonian/OregonLive. But it’s expected to become official sometime this week.

Pope is the fifth player from the 2023-24 Beavers to put his name in the portal, but easily the biggest name. Pope joins guards Christian Wright and Justin Rochelin, forward Jayden Stevens and post K.C. Ibekwe.

The 6-foot-2 sophomore has been a fixture in Oregon State’s lineup since he stepped foot on campus. Over two seasons, Pope played in 58 games, starting 57. This past season, Pope earned Pac-12 honorable mention honors after averaging 17.7 points and shooting 38% from three-point range.

Oregon State currently has six players on scholarship heading into the spring in guards DaJohn Craig and Nate Meithof and forwards Gavin Marrs, Thomas Ndong, Michael Rataj and Tyler Bilodeau.
