Get daily news updates from The Oregonian/OregonLive on Amazon Alexa, Google Home or your podcast app

Start each weekday with a rundown of the top Portland and Oregon headlines read by reporters and editors from The Oregonian/OregonLive.

Here’s how.

Amazon Alexa

Just say, “Alexa, enable The Oregonian/OregonLive Morning Briefing skill.” Or sign into your Amazon account and activate The Oregonian | OregonLive Morning Briefing skill here.

You can also activate the skill through the Alexa app:

  1. Open the Amazon Alexa app.
  2. In the drop-down menu, tap Settings > News > Flash Briefing.
  3. Tap Add Content and search for The Oregonian or OregonLive.
  4. Tap The Oregonian | OregonLive Morning Briefing.
  5. Tap Enable.

Once you’ve enabled the skill, simply say, “Alexa, give me my flash briefing” to hear the latest headlines.

Google Home

At any time, you can say, “OK Google, play the news from The Oregonian/OregonLive."

Google also offers offers two ways to get a selection of news all at once. Either way, you can add The Oregonian/OregonLive to the mix:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Settings > More settings > News.
  3. If your news playlist setting is news briefings, add News Updates from The Oregonian as a source. If your playlist setting is Your News Briefing, add as a source.

Once you’ve added The Oregonian/OregonLive, it will be included along with your other preferred sources when you say, “OK Google, play the news.”

Podcast apps
