Winterhawks Player of the Week: Diego Buttazzoni

Talk about the Winterhawks on our off-day thread.

With 3 goals and 3 assists in 3 games, the Winterhawks Player of the week for March 18 through March 24 is Diego Buttazzoni.

The 17-year-old started the season on fire with a 14-game point streak. He hit the wall after that, only scoring in 27 of his last 53 games. But he has a 3-game point streak, and points in 6 of his last 7, and played well in the game at Climate Pledge Arena, the game he didn’t score in. It seems like the younger middle-of-the-pack scoring players often get shut out in the playoffs; maybe his form at the end of the season will make him an exception.

Friday at Tri-City: 1 goal, 1 assist in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Americans.

Saturday vs. Seattle: 1 goal, 2 assists in a 7-4 win over the Thunderbirds.

Sunday at Seattle: 1 goal in a 4-3 shootout win over the Thunderbirds.

Assists on his goals: Josh Zakreski 2, Nate Danielson 1, Kyle Chyzowski 1.

Goals he assisted on: Josh Zakreski 1, Luca Cagnoni 1, Marek Alscher 1.

Discuss this and the Winterhawks in general.
