Looking back at a year’s worth of photos, memories and receipts, it’s clear 2022 wasn’t a time for challenging diners in Portland. Most restaurants focused on pizza, smash burgers and crispy chicken. Food carts stuck with deep-fried delicacies, albeit from around the globe. Even Kann, our 2022 Restaurant of the Year, centered much of its menu on gorgeously grilled meats.

And that suits us just fine.
