‘Suspicious death,’ arson investigations underway after body found at scene of Clackamas County fire

A person was found dead at the scene of a fire in unincorporated Clackamas County early Thursday morning, the county’s sheriff’s office said.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim.

Firefighters responded to a fire in the 8000 block of Southeast Flavel Drive at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday. They discovered the body while putting out the blaze and called the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

No details about the cause of death have been released.

Arson investigators with the Oregon State Police have joined sheriff’s detectives and the county medical examiner’s office in the investigation of the fire and what the sheriff’s office is calling a “suspicious death.”
