Four days of delays, miserable baseball weather and offensive fireworks reached a predictable conclusion Sunday afternoon.

With a sweep by the Oregon State Beavers.

The sixth-ranked Beavers defeated the North Dakota State Bison 13-7 at Goss Stadium in Corvallis, sweeping the four-game series with another impressive offensive display.

Oregon State (11-1) belted two home runs, slugged 14 hits and reached double figures in scoring for the third time in the series — and sixth time in 12 games — as it breezed past the inferior Bison (2-9) in the finale of its first home series this season.

Mason Guerra and Tanner Smith blasted homers, Jabin Trosky drove in a career-high four runs and five different OSU players had multi-hit efforts as the Beavers won their sixth consecutive game.

Oregon State opened the scoring with a four-run first inning, riding a Gavin Turley RBI single and a Trosky bases-loaded triple to an early lead. The Beavers added two runs each in the third and fourth innings, using a solo homer from Guerra, a sacrifice fly from Trosky and a two-run double from Elijah Hainline to build an 8-1 lead. And by the time it was over, Oregon State had put up crooked numbers in five of their eight offensive innings, polishing off the lopsided series by outscoring the Bison 48-19.

Smith went 2 for 3 with a two-run homer, Dallas Macias finished 2 for 5 with two runs scored, Guerra went 2 for 5 with that solo homer and Turley recorded his seventh multi-hit game of the season.

All the while, right-hander Eric Segura (2-0) added to his impressive freshman season, tossing 5 2/3 solid innings on the way to his second victory. Segura was occasionally erratic on a cold, cloudy day, hitting three batters, surrendering three hits and allowing three runs. But he finished with two strikeouts and recorded nine consecutive outs between the second and fourth innings, pitching well for the third time in three starts this season.

The day, much like the series, wasn’t always smooth. There was an 11-minute rain delay in the seventh inning, marking the fourth time in four games there was a delay.

But it ended with another lopsided victory in what has been an impressive start to the season for the Beavers.

Next up: Oregon State opens a four-game series against Cal State Northridge on Thursday at 5:35 p.m.
