BuzzCutt, the nonalcoholic drink-finding app made by Portland-based wives Olivia and Sarah Sears, is hosting a week-long celebration of alcohol-free drinks.
PDX Savør week will begin February 5 and will include 15+ Portland-area bars. Each bar will offer at least one NA cocktail for $8, but some of the joints have created specialty NA menus for the event.
The event is sponsored, in part, by Dhōs Spirits and each drink will be crafted with one of their three NA spirits.
“It’ll just be a really cool moment for a lot of people across the spectrum of mindful drinking, sober, sober-curious, to experiment and explore new places,” said Olivia Spears.
Originally, PDX Savør week was going to happen during Dry January, but the Searses wanted to give local businesses time to recuperate from the ice storm that his Portland at the end of last month.
Here’s how you can participate:
- Download the BuzzCutt app (update it if you already have it). It’s free and if you’re interested in NA drinks, it’ll have utility for you even after PDX Savør week is over.
- Open the app and click the Savør option in the top left-hand corner. (It’s bright pink and hard to miss.)
- View all the participating bars in your area and then it’s up to you! BuzzCutt hopes you’ll try a new bar in your area and check out the NA drinks.

“We have popular bars that have been around for a long time, bars that are brand new, there’s even one participating that just opened,” said Sears. “It’s really cool to be able to include a vast variety of different businesses in Portland.
Bars like The Sports Bra (a sponsor of the event), Bar Carlo and Tulip Shop Tavern are participating. You’ll have to check out the app to see the full list of participants.
And beyond making NA drinks available and affordable for everyone, PDX Savør week also introduced some of Portland’s participating bars to Dhōs Spirits.
“Ideally, they’d be inspired to create more NA cocktails and expand beyond. Yes, it’s amazing when there’s a beer, you know, but not everybody wants a beer,” said Sears. “You don’t have to settle for either NA beer or soda, there are different options out there.”
