Jesse Woods stepped onto his former friend’s porch half an hour before sunset on a warm July day in 2022, rang the doorbell and announced himself.
“It’s me,” he said, leaning toward the house’s Ring camera and pointing at his face, covered partially by a motorcycle helmet. “Yeah, it’s me.”
